These are a rough guide only, and it is advisable
to ring to check if travelling any distance, especially out of
season. The pottery can also be opened at other times if arrangements
are made in advance.
By road:
See map. Parking available at the workshops.
On foot:
To avoid the busy road, visitors from the village are advised
to use the crossing from the railway station. By mid 2006 the
foot-bridge should be open.
By rail:
The steam train from Swanage and the park and ride from Norden
stops outside the door.
Access:
I regret that the pottery is unsuitable for wheelchair users,
due to steep stairs.
Corfe Castle
Now managed by the National Trust, the ruins of the 12th century
castle can be seen from the pottery and dominate the small village.
The village also has a good number of pubs, shops and tea-rooms
for the visitor to enjoy.
There are many good walks, one of the best
starting from the track leading to the pottery. A steep climb
up East Hill rewards with stunning views over Poole Harbour and
down to the village. This is a good starting point to walk along
the ridge to Swanage. It can easily be combined with a one-way
trip on the steam train.
